Which means that when you get your audit through Mass Save the auditor will inspect your ducts to determine of they qualify, and you can received 75% off the cost of the work.
The air sealing and insulating of ducts is an important step in moving your home toward being more energy efficient and comfortable The ducts of your furnace and-or A/C unit should provide the proper distribution of heat and air conditioning throughout your home.
If you have distribution ducts in your attic and they are not properly air sealed or insulated that means during the heating season, as the heated air passed through the ducts a percentage of that heated air is escaping into the attic and never reaching the living space. In the winter your attic is as cold as it is outside, so if your ducts are not properly insulated from the cold of the attic, then as the warm air passes through the ducts the heat in the air is being drawn out towards the cold. This means that you are not getting the full benefit of the fuel you are burning to heat the air. And you need to burn extra fuel and keep the thermostat up longer to make up for it.
