We are happy to announce that Cozy Home Performance has been awarded the Clark Hall Thermal Envelope Improvement Project. The work-scope includes: dense pack cellulose in exterior walls, repositioning of thermal boundary from attic flat into the roof rafters and extensive instrumented air-sealing of envelope. Target air leakage reduction is 1/4 air changes/hour.
About Clark Hall, built in 1878 as a stick/balloon framed building and (per that era) not insulated. Smith purchased the building in 1889 and operated it as a boarding house. Today it is used as an administration building for Student Affairs. This project is one of many that has been designed to support the “Strategic Climate Action Management Plan” (SCAMP), which has the goal of making Smith College carbon neutral by 2030. This project adds to Cozy Home’s growing portfolio of Smith College thermal boundary remediation projects and building performance diagnostics. To date projects include: Park House, Morris and Lawrence twin hall, Northrup and Gillett dormitories and Sessions House.
